Christmas is almost here! To celebrate this wonderful season, let me share this little gingerbread girl...

KCW, I have completed the Halloween sewing! It is Inside Out for us this year...we loved the movie, we loved the characters, it was an easy choice for us! Momo's favorite character was Disgust, and she could not have been happier with her choice!

I took a little blogging break...it was unplanned, but there were several things that have been keeping me busy...mainly the new schedule brought by Momo entering the kindergarten, and the craft room makeover I have been working on. I have less personal time to sew now, but October is a fun time to sew for someone like me, who loves costumes! I just had to sew even if that meant even less sleep hours for me ;o
This woodland fairy costume was unplanned, just like my blogging break. But I love fairies, and when the costume idea came to my mind, I got really excited. Momo confirmed she would love a new fairy dress, so I tired to make something that would please her too.

Here is my latest selfish-sewing, and it's a maxi Washi dress! This was another Washi Dress I planned to sew last summer, but that did not happen...just like many other projects I plan in my head ;p The dress is not perfect, and I will mention about the flaws. But first let me say, I do like this dress!

Here she is...my kindergarten kid! While Momo has been calling herself as a "big girl" for a while, I now feel like she officially is! She just started the kindergarten, and I sewed up this dress for the first day of the school.

I have had this idea of making a peacock dress ever since I saw the "Wild Things" theme for KCW back in spring. I was too busy then, but I finally got around to make it now. It is just a few months late...that is actually not too bad, since I do not have time to make everything that pops in my head, and many of those ideas just eventually get forgotten,

August is not my favorite month...the brutal heat gets me, and I just don't feel like doing anything. I am taking things slightly easy, and definitely doing less cooking these days. Momo is eating more sandwiches...luckily she is happy to eat sandwiches :) I still want to sew, but I wanted a simple and easy project. A pillowcase dress is probably the easiest dress ever.

Skirting the Issue ...it is an online event hosted by Simple Simon & Co. Free skirts patterns and tutorials are offered at their blog throughout the month, and we the readers are asked to participate by sewing up skirts and donating them to the girls in foster care. Those 3 skirts are my contributions. Hope they help break the record 1000 skirts this year!

Has everyone seen the Disney's latest movie, INSIDE OUT yet? Even if not, I am sure most of you are familiar with the characters...the emotions inside the head, Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust. I saw this adorable INSIDE OUT character fabric at Jo-Ann and I just had to get it for Momo!

This month's pattern for Project Run and Play's sew along is Frozen Elsa Dress. It is a great tutorial showing how to make a simple princess dress that would please any girls. But to be honest I was not sure what to do with it at first... I love making princess dresses, and I do plan to make one or two this year, but I will probably do that later this year. It is so hot right now, I just do not feel like sewing fancy dresses. But missing out this challenge? Me, who love to sew pretend dress-up clothes? No, that was not happening! After a little thinking, I remembered the Wizard of Oz event I am planning to take Momo to this summer. It would be more fun if Momo had a dress to go with it!

This season of KCW's theme is "Wild Things." Isn't this a great theme...I expect to see so many fun projects. I got really excited with this theme, and I really wanted to participate...the theme matched to what I already had in my mind to sew... a little tunic top using this pretty forest animal print fabric. But I had to move up my sewing week early because I knew I personally will not have time to sew in the week of 4/20, not even 1 hour a day.

I wanted a quick, fun sewing project. Costume/character sewing projects always fit in "fun" category for both Momo and me.

This week I managed to sew up a dress for Project Run and Play's March challenge. I got caught up in the selfish sewing last week, and I did not start this project till Monday. Finding the time to sew was most challenging ;o

Before the Kid's Clothes Week is over, I just wanted to make one more thing. This time the theme for KCW is "Upcycled." This was a perfect push for me to check what I had in my stash box. I digged up 2 tank tops that had been waiting for my attention for 1 or 2 years...I cannot remember ;o

So we are back to the winter weather again. I knew those sunny warm days were too good to be true... :( Anyway I thought Momo could use just one more fleece dress before the winter is over. I tried to pick a cute print Momo would approve, even though the dress shape is not something She is crazy about.

Sometimes we would have spring-like warm days in the middle of winter. I love those days...warm and sunny, and no mosquitoes to worry about! And if those days falls on weekend, it is just perfect. Momo and I took advantage of a warm Saturday afternoon and went to the zoo. And Momo knew exactly what she wanted to wear, a new bird print dress I just finished.

I cannot believe half of January has passed already. I feel like I am still stuck in 2014...having hard time accepting it is 2015. Am I the only one??? I am a little behind with getting the projects done and writing about them. Here is what Momo got for Christmas...a princess dress-up rack!
