It's Rodeo time! To be honest I don't know much about it. But you have to admit...cowgirl fashion is fun...especially love those boots! And the little kids dressed as cowboys and cowgirls? They are super adorable!
Friday was "Go Texans Day, " the day many dress as Texans and celebrate Rodeo. Kids go to school dressed as cowboy/cowgirl, and they would have events like Western dances.
Last year in Pre-K, there was not much to do. I just dressed Momo in plain T-shirt and denim skirt for Go Texans Day. But this year Momo has learned about our state Texas and cowboy/cowgirl at school, and got really interested. Also she spent days practicing the dances at school too. So she really wanted to get dressed up.
It's happened to be KCW week, so I thought I would whip up something for her. My idea was to make a cowgirl-looking vest to go along with the denim skirt. But when I told Momo that, she said she would not want a vest. Instead, she wanted a skirt, cow print skirt. Because everyone knows cowgirl's skirt has to be in cow print ;)
There was no point making a vest Momo would not wear, so skirt it was. I went to Jo-Ann hoping to find the cow print fabric, and I did! I got this from costume fabric section. They also had cow print in quilting cotton, but I liked this fake-suede like fabric better, because it is not see-through and I do't have to iron.

The school dance was fun to watch. Momo was the only cowgirl wearing the cow print skirt, so it made easy to spot her ;) At kindergarten age, many kids even boys get dressed up, and it was so cute to see them dancing and having fun.
This was one of the most fun photo shoot we have had. Momo felt like she was a real cowgirl, loved to swing the rope and pose for photos too. We pretended she had an imaginary horse named Tim, ran and played in the park pretending she was riding him.
Linking up to those fun parties.
