Frozen's Anna Inspired Holiday Dress for Little Momo

How was everyone's Christmas?  I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays.  My Christmas was...exhausting and I am still trying to recover from it.  But I managed to take Momo's holiday dress photos.   I made a holiday dress that could double as Frozen's Anna dress, which has been on my to-sew list for a year.

Holiday Caroline Party Dress for Little Momo

I cannot believe it is December...the holidays are coming and this year I wanted to sew the holiday dress for Momo.  I am realizing I do not have time to sew everything I want to.  I scratched off some items from my to-sew list , but a holiday dress is a must-sew!

Flannel Peasant Tops for Little Momo

In my previous post I briefly mentioned my sewing machine had to be sent to a repair shop. I got it back without fixing it because it was not worth fixing an inexpensive machine.  It can still sew straight stitches and narrow zigzag stitches, so while I wait for the new machine to arrive, I worked on a simple project.

Disney Travel in Style

I got back my sewing machine from the shop without the really was not worth paying for the repair cost on my inexpensive sewing machine.   While I am thinking what I am going to do next, here are some pictures to show how the princess dresses I have been sewing recently lived up in the Disney Vacation we came back few weeks ago.  Those dresses definitely helped making Momo's Disney trip more magical!

Everyday Frozen Elsa Dress for Little Momo

I would think many moms out there are little tired of looking at Elsa dress...especially just after Halloween.   But here it is, yet another Frozen's Elsa dress ;)  I am currently sewing-machine-less, and all I have to show right now is this dress I sewed about 3 weeks ago.  It is a more comfortable, everyday-wear kind of princess dress.

Rapunzel Dress for Little Momo

With all the princess dresses I have been making lately, you would think I was done for, THIS is the dress I sewed for Halloween for Momo this year...a Rapunzel dress!
Last year it was a close call between Ariel and Rapunzel the end Momo loved the little mermaid a little more.  But she never gave up on being Rapunzel...she has been asking if she could get the Rapunzel dress for a year... and finally she got one.

Disney Frozen's Little Anna Dress for Little Momo

Here is a princess dress I have been working on for months...Little Princess Anna dress for my little princess :)
Momo loves all the girlie dresses I make, but nothing makes her happier than a princess dress.  So I keep sewing them...I will as long as she lets me.  And I am submitting this princess dress as my signature look for Project Run & Play sew-along's week 4 theme, signature look, just as I have submitted princess dresses in the past.

New Alice in Wonderland Dress for Little Momo

Here is another fun sew-along.  Many must have seen the Sew Many Books sewing series at Nap Time Creations, where the talented sewing bloggers are showcasing their book inspired looks. This year there is a sew-a-long, so I am playing along ;)
My choice of book is...Alice in Wonderland!  This is because Alice in Wonderland has always been one of my favorite books since I was a kid, and also Alice dress was on my to-sew-list this year.

Green Sundress for Little Momo

Summer is far from over for us...  Though the stores are stocked with fall clothes, and I am dreaming about sewing with plaid flannel, we will not be wearing those for at least another 2 months...  So here is a sundress I sewed few weeks ago and just got around to have the photos taken.

Fluttering Fields Twirly Dress for Little Momo

Here is another twirly dress I sewed last month...

I made a dress using a fabric from  Cloud9 Lotus Pond fabric collection designed by Rae from Made by Rae.  The collection is made up with all cute prints, but what I love most are the flower prints.  They are all so beautiful, and my favorite is this Fluttering Fields print.  What can I say... I have a thing for flowers and butterflies.   Flowers and butterflies in pink...I knew Momo would love this print too, and since it is a non-directional print, it is perfect to be made into a circle skirt she loves!

Knock Off Knit Dress for Little Momo

I enjoy reading sewing series on the blogs.   And once in a while I like to participate in the sew-alongs just for fun.

This time what I sewed along for is Knock It Off series at Elegance & Elephants.    I would have mixed feelings for buying the obvious knockoffs, but this is just a fun sewing challenge.

Skirts for Skirting the Issue 2014

I have sewn several skirts for Skirting the Issue this year.  I did not participate last year, because I did not feel my handmade clothes were good enough to be given to people who are not family members.   This year I know my handmade clothes are still very home-made and not professional looking, but I feel a little better about them.

Refashioned Shirt Dress for Little Momo

I have done a lot of sewing this month.  I thought I would not get around to work on this refashion project, but I was able to complete it before the Refashion Month at House of Estrela is over!

Kid Art Sally Dress for Little Momo

The Kid's Clothes Week has a theme this season, and the theme is "Kid Art."  This was just a push I needed to do something I have been thinking of doing -combining my sewing with Momo's art!

Fruity Olivia Top for Little Momo

I am participating Kid's Clothes Week sew along for the first time, since my sewing habits has changed.  I used to be a weekend sewer.  I would stay up all night, usually on Saturday nights, to finish up one project.  But lately I sew few hours in late nights on weekdays.  I may not finish a project in one night, but this way I can check the fitting on my daughter as I sew.   Then on weekends I sleep more to have enough energy to keep up with my energizer daughter.   My sewing habit may change again, but for now this works for me, and can fit to KCW's "sew 1 hour a day for 7 days" challenge better.

Coral and White Dot Georgia Twirl Top for Little Momo

Georgia Twirl Top/Dress is Momo's favorite right now.  She just cannot have enough circle skirts.  I have sewn two Georgia Dresses so far and Momo loves them.  This time I decided to make the tunic top version with color block and two-layer skirt.

Refashion Projects for Little Momo

Refashioned?  Up-cycled?  I am not sure what the proper term is,  but I had some of those projects that needed to be done.

Georgia Twirl Dress for Little Momo

In the beginning of this year, I told myself that I would not be buying any more fabric.  Well, I broke that promise right after I made it.  Other thing I thought I would not be doing is buying patterns.  I have several patterns I want to try but have yet to do so.  But when I learned about this Georgia Twirl Top/Dress pattern, I had to get it for my twirl-loving girl.   Besides the circle skirt I liked the V-cut in the back and the over-lapped sides, I felt I had a valid excuse to buy the pattern...

Vintage Inspired Sweet Panda Dress for Little Momo

Lately I have seen many vintage inspired outfits in the sewing community.  Vintage May series  was my main source of motivation to create this dress.

Gray and Yellow Floral Twirly Skirt for Little Momo

Last month I showed the Gray and Yellow Floral Halter Dress I made for myself.  While I was working on my dress, I stared to think what I could make for my little girl with the same fabric, so we can enjoy the mommy-and-me look.  My first idea was to make a bubble dress for her.  I thought, and still think, this fabric will make a beautiful bubble dress.  But then my little girl entered the "twirly-skit-only" stage.  I am pretty sure a bubble dress will not make her happy at this time...

Color Block Dress for Little Momo

A color block dress for Momo...

I almost did not post this dress.  I made some mistakes while making the dress, as usual,  also was not sure if Momo would wear it.  When she saw me working with those red and green-blue fabrics, she was not thrilled.   But after the dress was completed, Momo begged to wear it, so here it is...

Minnie Circle Skirt for Little Momo

Momo's latest Disney costume (sort of) is ...Minnie Mouse!

I had just one yard of this Minnie Mouse polka dots in my stash, so I chose to make another twirly skirt for Momo.    This time, I made a circle skirt!

Gray and Yellow Floral Halter Dress for Me!

 I sewed a dress...for ME!!!

For those of you who has been visiting my blog must be used to see my little girl modeling the dresses I sew for her.  I have appeared in couple of posts for mommy and me look, but this is the first time I am writing the entire post just for my dress.  I am kind of proud of myself for sewing this dress, and I thought the dress deserves its own post ;)

Kids' Choice Outfit for Little Momo

The last dress I sewed for my daughter turned out to be something she did not like...  She has always been happy everytime I sew her a dress, so hearing "I do not like it" was a surprise and  kind of hurt my feelings :(  Since then I have been working on a new dress, but I am afraid she may not like this one either.  The new dress is almost done, but I decided to put that aside to work on something my daughter will actually love to wear.  After reading about Kids' Choice at Elegance & Elephants, I just had to participate.

Tiny Sakura Sally Dress for Little Momo

I have finally made my very first Sally Dress!   This has been on my to-do list since I bought the Sew Fab bundle last year.  The weather has gotten warmer, and I thought  now should be a great time to sew this dress!

Giraffe Dress for Little Momo

Another season of Project Run and Play has started!  I will not be able to join the sew-along every week this time, but when the themes were announced there was one theme that got my attention and I just had to try.  It is the very 1st week's challenge: Put Me in the Zoo.

Cherry and Plum Sweet Dress for Little Momo

After 1 month of giving up sewing, I just had to get back on sewing and this is the first dress I made.  I have had this fabric for 2 years and been wanting to make something out of it.  The fabric has small Sakura(Cherry Blossoms) like flowers all over, along with larger flower which looks like plum blossoms.   It is a little wired, because those two do not bloom at the same time.  But together they make very Japaneses-looking fabric, I guess.  Anyway it is perfect for spring!

Ao Dai (Vietnamese Style Dress) for Little Momo

Happy Lunar New Year!

Sewing clothes that reflects our cultural backgrounds is something I have been wanting to do.   The idea has been pushed aside, because we do not have many occasions to wear such clothes, and mainly due to the difficulty I have anticipated.  But when Roots Sewing Series was announced at Elegance & Elephants, I thought I should try the sew-along...after all, I love sewing parties!

Momo's First Trip to Japan

Back in November, Momo and I took 2 weeks trip to Japan.  It was Momo's first strip to Japan, and she thoroughly enjoyed it.
The main purpose of the trip was to let Momo meet her grandparents.  For that purpose this was a very successful trip.  Momo loved staying at her grandparents' place...for the usual reasons, her grandparents were spoiling her with toys and food she loves.  They would play with her, and take her to fun places...  It was an exhausting 2 weeks for me, but all fun for Momo ;)

Plaid Poncho for Little Momo

Last winter I was in love with dots pattern, but this winter I am crazy about plaid.  I have added several new plaid scarves to my closet.  One of the scarves I love is an over-sized scarf with hoodie and button, giving me an option to wear it as a poncho.  I wear this often because it can be worn over anything, and quite useful here where warm jackets are not needed most of the time.
I love the the poncho style so much, I wanted to give the same one for Momo.

Animal Print Bimaa Sweater for Little Momo

Happy New Year everyone!

Hope everyone's had a wonderful holidays.   Mine was not so great... I spent most of the month of December taking care of my sick kid and then getting sick myself and recovering.   We are all better now, and now that the new year is here, we are just trying to get back to our normal lives.

Before I got sick I made my first Bimaa Sweater for Momo.  This is pretty much the only thing I have to show right now.

The pattern was included in the Sew Fab bundle back in September.  This Bimaa Sweater pattern was the main reason I bought the bundle, and I finally got to try it out.   I have been wanting to know how to make the cowl neck, and this pattern made it so easy!   I really loved the pattern...the instruction was one of the best I have seen, clear and easy to follow with photos in each step!

The fabric is colorful animal print knit from Jo-Ann.  I got it from their clearance rack few months ago.  It is very light weight and can be see-through, making a layering shirt necessary.  So I cut out size 5T to try on my almost 4-year-old, and I think I made the right choice.  The sweater is a modern slim-fit, and a smaller size may have been tight around Momo's big belly.  The sleeves are too long for Momo, and that was expected, since normally any long sleeves are too long for her.   Now I know I just need to make size 5T with shorter sleeves.

See the big cowl neck line?  I am loving the look.  The pattern also have the options of shawl collar or hoodie, and those would be great choices for everyday wear.

I was not sure how Momo would like this animal print...she is a girlie girl who loves flowers and pink and ruffles and princess dresses.  Sure enough, she did not want to wear it the first time she saw this sweater.  But now I know she will wear it as long as I pair it with a skirt ;)

Linking up to those fun parties.
